May 11, 2010-Translation of Mother's Day Message

My beautiful Brazilian friend, Vanessa, translated the Mother's Day message into English for me.

A Mother's Portrait
Written by Don Ramon Angel Jara
Bishop of La Serena, Chile
Translated into Portuguese by Guilherme de Almeida
(Written in an album)

A simple woman exists that, by the immensity of her love, has a little bit of God;
by her loyalty and dedication, has a lot of an angel;
that, despite of being young, thinks like an ancient woman but when old, she acts with all the strength of her youth;
when ignorant, she finds life's secrets better than any wise men, and when wise, she acquires the plainness of a child;
if she is poor she knows how to enrich herself with the joy of those who love her, but if she is rich she knows how to become poor so her heart will not bleed, hurt by ungrateful ones;
while she is strong, she trembles with a cry from a child, and weak, she soars with the courage of the lions;
when she lives, we do not know how to show our appreciation because even in the presence of her shadow, all the pains go away, and when dead, we would give everything we are and everything that we possess in order to see her again, and to be in her arms and to hear a word from her lips.
Do not demand that I say the name of this woman, if you do not want me to soak in tears this album, because I saw her passing by my way. When your children grow up read to them this page: they will cover your face with kisses, and they will say that a poor traveler, in exchange for the sumptuous room and food received, left to all of us here the portrait of his own MOTHER....
